Ujjayini Ghosh joined the University of Wisconsin–Madison Cryo-EM Research Center (CEMRC) and the Midwest Center for Cryo-Electron Tomography (MCCET) in December 2025. Previously, she served as a Senior Scientist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the Structural Biology Department under the mentorship of Dr. Charalampos Kalodimos. Her research there focused on human chaperones, specifically investigating the mechanisms of substrate binding through nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), biochemical assays, and protein engineering.

Ujjayini’s extensive training includes a role at UCSF under Nobel Laureate Dr. Stanley Prusiner, where she applied cryo-EM to patient-based structural biology, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the NIH (NIDDK) with Dr. Robert Tycko, focusing on the structural biology of amyloids. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Michigan State University in 2016 under Dr. David Weliky, specializing in the characterization of class I viral fusion proteins using solid-state NMR and biophysical techniques.
